I know the holidays aren't fun for many people. In fact, it can be downright depressing. Still, we have to try and look up, see some of the remaining good and run with that. I personally haven't really celebrated Christmas since my Grandmother passed many years ago. Can't bring myself to do it. But I'm happy for those of my friends and family that have kids - it's really for THEM. As adults, many of us have the capability to get the things we need or want. Kids still have that aura of innocence around them, that endearing naiveté that is sweet. Let them enjoy that feeling as long as they possibly can. Adulting will be their new norm soon enough; no sense in throwing them to the wolves earlier than necessary.
That said, enjoy the holiday. Eat, love and find happiness where you can.
